PARIS (AFP) -- Spanish 250cc motorcycle racer Hector Barbera will miss this month's Catalonia and Netherlands Grands Prix after breaking his arm in a bicycle fall, world championship organizers said Monday.

The 19-year-old winner of last year's 125cc Catalonia Grand Prix was hurt riding a mountain bike at his parents' home near the Mediterranean city of Valencia.

Barbera, who rides with the Fortuna Aprilia team, underwent an operation Monday with doctors ordering he rest for at least two weeks.

It is also unclear if he will be ready for the British Grand Prix at Donington on July 2.

"It's annoying, but I am thinking only about getting better and getting back on the bike as quickly as possible," Barbera said.

The winner of the Shanghai Grand Prix is in fourth place in the world 250cc championship rankings, 30 points adrift of the leader, Italian Andrea Dovizioso.
